A brief history LAR was founded in 1997 after a management buyout of Laing Asbestos Removal – part of John Laing Construction Ltd. As a result the directors and many of the operational staff have over 30 years’ experience in the removal of asbestos, having safely and effectively carried out projects across the UK, Europe and Africa with project values of up to £3.5 million. Welcome to L A Moore Ltd L A Moore Limited was founded by owner, Les Moore, on 16th August 1952, trading as ‘L A Moore Builders Limited’ as a building concern. In the 1960’s the company quickly expanded our activities with the addition of heavy plant machinery acquired and the company undertaking sub-contract groundworks, plant, hire etc, and we soon became an approved contractor for British Rail. We participated in the uplift of many miles of railway line and station/signal box demolition resulting from the Beeching cuts. In 1969 the Company was granted membership of ‘The National Federation of Demolition Contractors’, the industry leading body for the demolition industry. On the 30th June 1970, the company changed its name to ‘L A Moore Limited’. The Company was well established as both a main contractor in the field of demolition / civil engineering and as an approved sub-contractor to many Local and County Councils, working on various projects including earthworks for new roads, sea defences, shopping centres, office complexes and many other industrial, commercial and residential buildings.
