The standard survey is called an Asbestos Management Survey (formerly know as a type 1 or type 2 asbestos survey) and is more of a visual inspection. This Asbestos Survey is for the asbestos surveyor to;-locate, as far as reasonably practicable, the presence of asbestos materials and extent of any suspect asbestos containing materials within a building, which could be damaged or disturbed during normal occupancy and to avoid any potential asbestos exposure for normal occupancy of a building. This level of asbestos survey is for buildings where there are no current plans for refurbishment, maintenance, demolition or alterations to be carried out. The Duty Holder is responsible to ensure an expert asbestos surveying company is employed. This level of asbestos survey is a legal requirement for building owners/landlords to ultimately ensure an effective asbestos management plan and asbestos register is prepared for the building owner.
A refurbishment or demolition survey is required before any refurbishment or demolition work is carried out. Knight Specialist Services Ltd carryout this types of survey to locate, as far as reasonably practicable, all asbestos containing materials in the area where the refurbishment work will take place or in the whole building depending on your scope of works. The survey will be fully intrusive and involve destructive inspection, as necessary, to gain access to all areas, including those that may be difficult to reach. The Survey is a legal requirement prior to your contractor commencing work on a commercial property or domestic premises.
